Shannon is a seasoned business owner and financial expert with over 28 years of entrepreneurial experience. Shannon began as an adviser at Cuna Brokerage Services in 2002, where he was a recurring recipient of the Members Excellence award for five consecutive years. He then transitioned to Cambridge Investment Research as a registered representative in 2011, finishing out as an Investment Adviser Representative in 2019. Following this, Shannon started his own firm, Markle Financial, which is currently thriving and in operation to this day.
In 2022, Shannon formed Catalyst Land Group to help clients navigate the complex Section 1031 Exchange transaction process. As a real estate investor of over 24 years, he understands the value in having control over your investments. Through Catalyst, he now aims to bring that control through creating a system of efficiency and collaboration within the Section 1031 Exchange space, allowing investors to achieve the highest and best use of their real property through long-term investment.
Shannon holds a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) designation, providing him with the tools and knowledge to assist clients in planning, executing and sustaining their retirement.
Lou Weller is a nationally recognized attorney specializing in taxation of real estate transactions. He previously served as National Director of Real Estate Transaction Planning and National Director, Section 1031 Exchange Services at Deloitte Tax LLP. He has extensive experience designing and implementing strategies for real estate and business asset acquisitions, transfers, exchanges, leases, financing, work-outs as well as , partnership and joint venture formations. He also owned and for more than 20 years operated one of the first Section 1031 Exchange qualified intermediary businesses. Lou has consulted with large institutional and individual property owners on Section 1031 matters for many years.
Lou graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Political Science from Yale University and earned concurrent J.D. and Masters in Public Policy degrees from the University of California, Berkeley. He has published many articles dealing with real estate tax issues and is author of the treatise Real Property Exchanges.
